Yet another baby update!

So this update is a few days late being as though my appointment was last Thursday, but like they always say, "better late than never." :-)

Anyways, the VERY exciting news...  WE ARE ON THE TWO WEEK CYCLE!!  Yes, you read that correctly, this pregnancy seems to be flying by and we are already to the point where our appointments land us at Avera every two weeks.

Baby is doing GREAT!  He is actually starting to even out on his size (yay!) and his heartbeat was perfect.  He can pack a serious kick to my ribs these days and make me run to the bathroom faster than you can say OH NO!  (if you know what I mean).

Baby Hansen is already head down (now I know that can change, but lets keep our fingers crossed that he is comfy in that position).  One thing for sure...  Jameson made himself comfortable in a sideways position for pretty much the entire pregnancy (until the very last couple weeks) while this baby (like I said before) is already head down.  With that said, I was caught off guard the very first time I felt a tiny little foot in my ribs.  MAN DOES THAT HURT!  Let's just say, he is pretty good at making sure mommy knows when he is awake.

Alright, well that's about all the updates I have for now.  Check back in TWO WEEKS for another :-)

Vacation 2013

Vacation 2013 landed the Hansen Family in Washington D.C. once again.  We decided to take a family vacay this year since Luke and I did an "adults only" vacay last year.  Not to mention, with baby #2 on the way, we are trying to make these last couple months extra special for Jameson.

So, we started our adventure with a night in Omaha.  We decided to fly out of Omaha and we were leaving SUPER early Friday morning, so we got a hotel room with a little water park to start vacation out right.  Lets just say, although J didn't sleep the entire afternoon, he was having the time of his life in the water!  It melts my heart to see him laugh, smile and have so much fun.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP... Oh yes, just imagine the sound of an alarm clock... at 3:15 a.m.!  Ugh, not a great noise at that hour, but we were very excited to get our vacation going.  Off to the airport we went!!

As a little side note... The last time we flew with Jameson he wasn't as mobile.  With that said, I was pretty nervous for the flight.  Trust me, I had every singe trick up my sleeve to keep him busy on the flight, but my blood was still pumping like crazy.  And this is exactly how the flight went:  (sorry its kind of a dark picture)

YES!!!  Jameson slept all but maybe 20 minutes of the flight!!!!!  This was one happy mommy!  Not to mention, the air condition was not working for the first hour and my back was killing me, so daddy came to my rescue and held J the entire flight and they both got a great nap in.

One of Luke's army friends and his family lives in DC, so we were lucky enough to spend Friday and Saturday with them.  They have a little guy two weeks older than J, so the boys were able to play and enjoy each others company while us adults were able to catch up.  Friday evening they introduced us to the AMAZING Matchbox Pizza.  Trust me, if you are ever in the DC area, you MUST try it!!!  We spent our Saturday cruising the National Zoo and playing on the Nation Mall.  Ollie was in heaven, while J was not in the best of moods.  He was pretty tired from traveling and (we didn't know it at this point) not feeling so well.  (we thought, at this point, it was allergies).  My brother was also able to join us on our Zoo adventure!!!

Carousal at the National Zoo

Enjoying the beautiful weather

Bring on Sunday.  This was a memorable day... and really not for all the right reasons.  My parents flew in early Sunday morning, so we spent most of the day playing around our hotel, swimming, and walking around the capitol.  Bring on Sunday evening and we had a little boy that was running a nasty fever, had a horrible rash and just not happy.  So, in true Hansen family vacation fashion, we were off to the DC Children's hospital ER.  Come to find out, our little man had SCARLET FEVER!  Yes, you are reading that correctly...  NOT FUN!  He was not feeling well and just not happy.  Bring on some meds, sleep and Nana and Gpa snugs and our little man was on the mend.

Monday was a pretty raining, cold day...  Jameson was still not feeling the best, so we made it a pretty low key day.  My mom and I were able to sneak away and do some shopping in DuPont Square while the boys enjoyed some delicious food and cocktails while J rested.  One thing I would highly recommend - We went to Bobby Flay's burger joint - Bobby's Burger Palace.  Again, if you are in the area, you must try!!!  SO DELICIOUS!

Tuesday was back to beautiful weather and J was on the mend.  Although not feeling 100%, his energy level was starting to recharge and he was ready to head out for some fresh air.  We spent some time at the botanical gardens, playing out on the Mall, walking around China Town and eating yummy, yummy food (oh wait, we did that ALL weekend long!).  Luke and my bro were able to get some time away to visit the Library of Congress and spend time quality time together.

Uncle Adam Me and J

Bring on Wednesday and it was time for us to say goodbye.  With one quick stop at the Fire Station and then we were off to the airport.  We truly had a great time even though our little man was not feeling well.  It was great to see the Munirs, my brother and get one last trip to DC before Adam calls California home.

For all of you Onalaska Hilltoppers -
This was the Fire Station we sang at on our DC/New York Trip in 2002

Thanks Adam, Erol, Kat and Ollie for a great vacation!

Update from last post...

So, I had a lot of people asking me about my glucose test....

I PASSED!
Yay!!!

I was very nervous, but everything went well.  The only concern was my iron level, but that's about it.  And to be honest, my iron level wasn't too much of a concern and my doctor just said she would keep an eye on it.

So, here's to one happy mommy and a healthy baby!!!

Baby #2 update...

We had another baby appointment yesterday.

Good News
&
Bad News

Good News:
Baby is growing like a weed.  He is officially measuring two weeks ahead of schedule so I would assume we have another "linebacker" on our hands.  Although the doctor is very happy with his progress, she is still keeping a very close eye on his size!  (thank goodness).
My mom was able to join me for my appointment and we were able to hear Baby's VERY strong heart beat loud and clear!  AND he gave mommy a few strong kicks while the heart monitor was hooked up to my tummy.

Bad News:
I was supposed to have my glucose test yesterday morning as well, but I was not informed that they changed their testing and I needed to fast for 8 hours prior to the test (I did not have to do that during my first pregnancy)  Needless to say, I had a very delicious breakfast, granola bar and latte prior to my appointment and therefore, could not take the test.

I will be making up the test tomorrow (early) morning, so keep the positive thoughts coming my way that everything goes just fine.

Overall, baby #2 is doing GREAT!  He is kicking mommy like crazy and making sure I know when he is awake.

I can't believe was are less than 14 weeks away from meeting our new little man!

Another first....

Well, it's official...  Jameson got his very first ear infection... and to make the situation even "better"....
it was a DOUBLE ear infection!

I have to admit, I was feeling pretty "lucky" to have a little boy, with a constant runny nose, never complaining, running a fever or really showing any sort of symptoms of an ear infection.  Bring on a cranky, sleepy, no appetite Thursday morning and we were in full fledged worry mode with a sick little boy.  With a temperature slowly climbing, we mad a call to our doctor and off we went.  J was trying his best to fall asleep pretty much the entire day, but nothing would comfort him.  Naturally he finally fell asleep in my arms at the doctors office only to be woken up by the doctor poking at his ears.  BUT, she said he clearly had two infections and the meds would start to help right away.

A few doses of meds later and we started to get our little man back!  I felt so bad for him, but he was such a champ and pushed through the pain, took the meds like a pro and slept like a champ that evening.

So, bring on day 4 (of 10) of the amoxicillion and J was developing a nice little rash on his tummy.  Day 5 the rash was spreading and he was also getting larger spots on his legs.  Day 6 was RED FLAG day and we ended up finding out our little man has an allergy to amoxicillion.

New meds were prescribed and we now have a happy/healthy little man again!

We are back to climbing on EVERYTHING, babbling away and giggling like crazy!
So happy J is feeling better!

Quick baby update

Just a quick update on baby Hansen #2...

We had another baby appointment today!  Baby Hansen #2 is doing GREAT!  I am officially a little over 22 weeks along and baby is measuring about 23 weeks.  I have to say, at this point, Jameson was already 2.5 weeks ahead of the game, so this little guy is staying a little more "on track" (at least as of now).

Speaking of size... My doctor is keeping a VERY close eye on his size...  Which means, hopefully I will not be delivering another 9 lb 6 oz baby!  But truly, on a serious note, she is hoping by keeping an eye on the size we will not have to go through anything like we did when Jameson was born.  Let's just say Luke and I are both VERY happy about that and very supportive of whatever the doctor wants to do to make sure we are good to go!

Babies heartbeat was strong at 143 beats!  Much slower than J's, but still VERY good and normal!  (Jameson was always 160 and above)

Our next appointment is March 11th and that will also be my glucose test.  I tend to freak out a little regarding this test, not because I tested positive last time, but my mom actually had gestational diabetes with both my brother and I.  AND we were both HUGE babies!  So, keep your fingers crossed all goes well.

Cheers to another great month and a healthy baby

The BIG Reveal

Yes, as most of you know, we found out we are having a:

BOY!!!

I have to honestly admit, I am STILL in shock!  I (and Luke) 100% thought we were having a little girl.  Every single thing about this pregnancy has been the complete opposite from my first pregnancy.  When I say everything, I mean everything...  Sickness, eating habits, sleeping habits, how I am carrying the baby...  EVERYTHING.  Truly, I was convinced there was a little princess in my tummy.
NOPE.

Anyways... enough of the pink talk...

Since we didn't find out the sex during our first pregnancy, Luke convinced me we NEEDED to find out this time.  I really enjoyed not knowing last time, but compromise is the name of this married game!  We decided to have a little fun with it, so we planned a reveal party with our family and friends.

Luke and I had no idea what the sex of the baby was going into the party.  We took the mystery envelope, given to us by the ultrasound tech, directly to a local baker and she then made a beautiful cake that would reveal the sex once we cut into it.

The cake was AMAZING!  Everything I wanted and more... The Cake Lady did an awesome job!!!

It says
"He or She... Open to See"

We asked our guests to wear something pink or  blue depending on whether they thought we were having a boy or girl.  I would have to say, 90% of our crowd was pink!  With a couple undecided and then a couple that wore both... (cheaters! - haha)

Here is a great picture of our guests... (missing a few, but that's ok)
I bought lips for those that thought we were having a girl and mustaches
for those that thought we were having a boy

I have to say, we tried our HARDEST to wait as long as possible to cut into the cake because we knew some of our friends were going to be late... but the anticipation was killing us.... so....

Here we go!!!!
3...2...1....

BLUE!!!
OH MY GOSH!
Our faces seriously tell you how surprised we were

Proof

Happy Little Family

My girlfriends and I
We had to ditch the lips and take a picture
with the mustaches!

Truly, Truly, Truly.... I still can NOT believe we are having a BOY!!!!!

I may not believe it until the day I am holding him my arms.  (haha)
I did have a dream the other night that although we were told it was a boy, he came out a GIRL!
(I know crazy pregnancy dreams, but that just tells you how convinced I was it was a girl!)

We are SO excited to meet our little man!  What a blessing!  And Jameson will have a buddy to play with!!!

HURRY UP JUNE!
